Dating someone who is older than you
It’s sad that I’m constantly accused of being with him for his money (he doesn’t really have any.) My parents looked like they’d seen a ghost when I first brought him over for Sunday dinner.I can’t blame them, after all they’re about the same age.Right now though, all I can say is that it’s true love – and I’m willing to take the rough with the smooth.Ideally I’d have fallen for a man in his 30s, but I didn't.It’s also very possible that person won’t be your age.An age gap between partners in relationships is nothing new. Most often we think of older men and younger women, but it can go the other direction too.I just hope that 60-year-old me will be strong enough to focus on the happy memories, rather than the grief of losing the man she loved. When you find someone who captures your heart you may discover yourself in a relationship that is very different from what you were expecting, and perhaps even with someone you could never have imagined.
To my surprise, most of my friends were unfazed when we started dating.
” whispers my friend, incredulously, as my 60-year-old partner leaves the table go to the loo. While he’s the oldest man I’ve ever dated, most of my exes have been between 15 and 20 years older than me.
” I’m in my 30s and was sick of bad boys - we decided to try and make it work.
The sparkle in my partner’s eyes when I walk into the local pub with him while I’m wearing a low-cut dress is priceless – and he always compliments me which makes me feel great.
Of course, our unconventional relationship does have its downsides.
